When It's Time for a Break, Enjoy Our Mountain Resort!

Your group will enjoy lots of outdoor action during breaks. Four great tennis courts are playable year-round, weather permitting. Or try a putting tournament, a volleyball knockdown or basketball shootout. Sports equipment from Frisbees to footballs is yours for the asking.

On top of the hill behind the Main Lodge is a softball field that can enliven your program. Or, for individual conditioning, try our wooded trails and acres of virgin forest and shoreline. Our beautiful swimming pool is operational from mid-May through mid-October. Fireside Jacuzzis is available in our cozy cabana every evening of the year -- a great place to watch a gentle snowfall.

You'll want to take full advantage of every opportunity to walk along the lake, down a path, or through neighboring resort areas. Early mornings or evenings offer the perfect setting to enjoy the forest, the wildlife and the lake activity of a first class resort.

Walk Along the Lake, Explore the Forest . . . Gain a New Perspective

You'll be thrilled by the four distinct seasons at Lake Arrowhead. Enjoy the autumn leaves or the fresh excitement of springtime. Winter temperatures are rarely below freezing and often 50-60 degrees during the day. Occasional snow brings breathtaking beauty to the mountains, but is quickly cleared from roads and paths.

UCLA Conference Center serves groups from all over the world, and we've learned that the key to creating and maintaining a successful business lies in strengthening the connections between people. Our Ropes
Course Program
provides an experience that incorporates communication and cooperation, decision making and conflict resolution, and commitment to common objectives in an environment that encourages risk-taking and change.

What is a Ropes Course?

The UCLA Conference Center Offsite Retreats are a series of supervised outdoor problem-solving activities that promote a combination of teamwork skills and individual commitment. Based on a challenge-by-choice philosophy, all activities are voluntary, empowering each person to perform to their full potential, securely and without pressure. Participants will be challenged to overcome their perceived boundaries, expand their comfort zones and accomplish more than they imagined possible.

The Ropes Course is an exciting and powerful program that is fun and suitable for all ages and abilities. It motivates participants to combine their talents to achieve the greatest results both individually and as a team. Group members learn that their differences are their greatest assets and that trust and communication are the keys to success.

The Ropes Course contains low elements and high elements. All require trust, support and communication for success. The low elements are no more than five feet off the ground, while the high elements are located 25 to 65 feet up in our majestic pines. Some elements involve physical activity, and others focus on creative thinking and problem-solving. The Ropes Course is designed so that everyone can participate.

Safety is our top consideration. We use professionally trained facilitators, state-of-the-art equipment, and a double belay system. The Ropes Course events are inspected regularly and we have an excellent safety record.

The UCLA Ropes Course Program emphasizes:
  • Team Problem Solving
  • Conflict Resolution Skills
  • Leadership Development
  • Effective Communication
  • Power of Diverse Thinking
  • Self-directed Learning
  • Trust Development
  • Achievement through Risk Taking
  • Increased Levels of Confidence and Self-esteem

The Ropes Course is available only for overnight guests. After booking space on the Ropes Course we will work with you to design a program specific to the goals of your conference. Full-day programs are most effective with these offsite retreats. The day begins with safety training followed by low and high individual and group activities. Half-day programs are also available.

Prices vary according to program and group size.
